Kyle Brooks has extensive experience representing clients in a variety of employment, business, and civil rights disputes. His experience includes claims involving race, sex, age, national origin, religion, and disability-related employment discrimination and retaliation. He is also an advisor on employment contracts, releases, restrictive covenant issues, and commercial business disputes. In addition to employment and business matters, he has successfully litigated many cases involving claims of misconduct by police and corrections officials and alleged First Amendment violations by government personnel. Many of his cases have been covered by the media or have otherwise been high-profile.
A native of the Macon, Georgia area, Kyle is a graduate of Mercer University, where he received an undergraduate degree in business administration. Following his undergraduate education, Kyle attended Georgia State University’s College of Law, earning his law degree in 2013.
After earning his law degree, Kyle went into private practice, where he focused on business litigation, catastrophic personal injury cases, and civil rights cases involving police misconduct by officers from metro-Atlanta police agencies. In addition to other police misconduct cases, Kyle contributed, both during and after law school, to the successful litigation of many cases against the City of Atlanta and officers from the City of Atlanta’s notorious and now-defunct REDDOG unit. Kyle’s business litigation involved claims asserted under the Fair Business Practices Act, the Uniform Deceptive Trade Practices Act, ERISA, breach of contract, and fraud, among others.
Prior to joining Buckley Bala Wilson Mew LLP, Kyle was most recently employed by the Georgia Department of Law, where he practiced for several years and specialized in civil rights and constitutional law. The cases he handled involved First, Fourth, Fifth, Eighth, and Fourteenth Amendment issues, as well as issues pertaining to sovereign and qualified immunity. He also handled complex cases, such as wrongful death litigation and litigation with agency-wide policy implications, as well as litigation involving the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Rehabilitation Act, Title IX, and the Georgia Tort Claims Act.
Achievements & Accolades
Kyle is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and is admitted to practice in all Georgia trial and appellate courts, including the United States District Courts for the Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts of Georgia, the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, the Georgia Court of Appeals, and the Supreme Court of Georgia. Kyle also serves as a member of the Georgia Bar Journal Editorial Board.
