Water Life Hope – Founded by Partner Ed Buckley

Inside the courtroom and out, the staff at Buckley Bala Wilson Mew LLP always fight to protect people’s human rights. Led by the firm’s partner, Ed Buckley, the staff spends their free time helping others in need.

As one of Atlanta’s leading employment and civil rights lawyers, Ed Buckley founded Water Life Hope to help those less fortunate. Water Life Hope is a non-profit charity that provides the people of Haiti with access to clean drinking water. In the small Caribbean country, 4.5 million people do not have access to this fundamental right. Water Life Hope has built more than 330 wells, providing clean drinking water to more than half a million people across Haiti.

Unsanitary water impacts everything

“Unsanitary water impacts everything from the survival rate of children to the average lifespan of adults,” Buckley said. “Here in America, all we have to do is turn on a tap and we have all the water we need, while not so far away people have little or no access to even a few gallons of water a day.”

Buckley was named as an Ambassador for the Poor by nonprofit Food for the Poor in 2014 and in 2015, he received the 11 Who Care Community Service Award from NBC Atlanta affiliate, WXIA-TV. The award honors eleven members of the Atlanta community who generously give their talents, time and resources to improving the lives of others, locally, nationally and globally, making a difference each day.
